Did you republish after you removed the folder?
As I was doing some research for a CP8 blog, I noticed that there is code to draw the playbar elements with canvas and the effects are applied with CSS. It could be that your projects is doing this.
You also might want to look in your published folders to find the applicable graphics and edit them there.
