Designing for compatability with ipads?

I may be old school but I still use the style with wrapper set to 960px width centred.

I do not have an ipad - nor can I afford one at the moment so I am wondering what the trend is now for designers who have to design allowing for the style that ipads use.

Do we now start designing for full screen width or what?

Will my existing designs now be classed as old fashioned in 2015 compared to pre-ipad days?
